To upgrade armor in Monster Hunter Wilds, follow these steps:
Unlocking Armor Upgrades
- Progress through the story: Armor upgrading becomes available after reaching Chapter 2-2, immediately following a battle with the monster Rompopolo in the Oilwell Basin region. This is typically a few hours into the game.
- Visit Gemma, the Smithy: Speak with Gemma at any Base Camp, particularly in the Oilwell Basin, to unlock the armor upgrading mechanic.
How to Upgrade Armor
- Go to the Smithy: At any Base Camp, select the "Forge/Upgrade Armor" option from the Smithy's menu.
- Select an Armor Piece:
- Choose a piece of armor from your inventory (marked with a red chest for stored items or a yellow checkmark for equipped ones).
- Click "Upgrade" to access the upgrade menu.
- Use Armor Spheres:
- Spend Armor Spheres to increase an armor piece's level and defense stats. Different types of Armor Spheres provide varying upgrade points:
- Armor Sphere: 10 points

- Advanced Armor Sphere: 200 points.
